Here you have the link to the most popular museums in this city:

Museo del Prado - 6 minutes walking distance from our flat; considered one of the best world's museum, it has more than 20.000 art pieces including paintings, draws and other objects. It is visited by 2 million of tourist every year: that means almost 5500 people per day !

Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza - 5 minutes walking distance from our flat; just opposite to Museo del Prado, this private institution offers beautiful masterpieces of Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, and Caravaggio amongst other great artists.

Museo Reina Sofia - 5 minutes walking distance from our flat; is the place to find Pablo Picasso's famous Guernica painting; it has around 19.000 art pieces.

Museo Sorolla - 3 minutes walk to Anton Martin Metro Station; take Line 1 towards Pinar de Chamartin; your destination is at Iglesia Station. It won't take you more than 2 hours  to visit this beautiful house with most of Sorolla's art works.

Museo Cerralbo  - 3 minutes walk to Anton Martin Metro Station; take Line 1 towards Pinar de Chamartin; leave at Sol Station to take Line 3 towards Moncloa; your destination is at Plaza España Station.

Buy your ticket in advance; avoid queue and disappointment when the place is crowded. You can buy your ticket online.  Some museums are for free after 6 or 7 pm.

Check the opening days & hours: some museums don't open on Monday and special public holiday.

Verify the closest Metro Station (Madrid Metro is the fastest way of transport).

Check facilities and access, if you need special assistance.

Make a plan of what you would like to see: read about museum's  art pieces, their history, look for current exhibitions, etc. Some museums, as del Prado for example, have so many art works on show that one day can't be enough to see them all. Avoid frustration and being lost, don't walk without  a clear idea what you are looking for. Think that you are very lucky to visit these amazing places with hundreds of years of human history between its walls, so please don't miss your chance to appreciate quality instead of quantity.

Read carefully the restrictions of each museum and be respectful.  Those restrictions had been written to protect art pieces. If the use of camera flashes is forbidden, for example, please don't use it; a flash  gradually deteriorates a painting, so imagine the effect of millions of tourists taking pictures every year !
